Ben Collins: Driving Michael Schumacher’s Bugatti EB110

Former Top Gear Stig Ben Collins heads to Romania to drive a privately owned Bugatti EB110. Launched in 1991, the EB110 was one of the first modern-looking hypercars, and its striking design has aged remarkably well.

Technologically advanced in 1994, the EB110 now feels primitive compared to today’s hypercars. Only 139 were made, a reflection of the era’s smaller pool of multimillionaires.

Marcello Gandini, the mind behind the Lamborghini Miura and Countach, designed its iconic lines. Between 1992 and 1995, it competed with the Lamborghini Diablo, Jaguar XJ220, Ferrari F40 and F50, and McLaren F1.

Priced at over $300,000 at launch, rare examples now fetch upwards of $2.5 million. Collins takes the wheel of a truly special EB110, once owned and personalised by Michael Schumacher.
