Lando Norris delivered a dominant performance at the Mexico City Grand Prix, leading from start to finish to claim victory and move to the top of the Drivers’ Championship standings — by just one point — ahead of teammate Oscar Piastri. The McLaren driver held firm through a chaotic opening lap before building a commanding lead, ultimately crossing the line 30.324 seconds ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, who narrowly held off Max Verstappen’s late charge for second.
Behind the podium finishers, Ollie Bearman earned a career-best fourth place for Haas after resisting pressure from Piastri, who finished fifth. Mercedes’ rising star Kimi Antonelli took sixth, followed by George Russell in seventh. Lewis Hamilton, now driving for Ferrari, came home eighth after a 10-second penalty for leaving the track during a battle with Verstappen.
Esteban Ocon added more points for Haas in ninth, while Gabriel Bortoleto secured the final point in tenth for Kick Sauber. Yuki Tsunoda (Red Bull), Alex Albon (Williams), Isack Hadjar (Racing Bulls), and Lance Stroll (Aston Martin) rounded out the finishers, ahead of Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto for Alpine.
Four drivers failed to finish: Liam Lawson, Nico Hülkenberg, Fernando Alonso, and Carlos Sainz, who retired in the stadium section late in the race.
Norris’s commanding victory and new championship lead mark a pivotal moment in the 2025 season, setting up a fierce intra-team duel with Piastri heading into the final rounds.
