Audi has unveiled the colour scheme for its first-ever Formula 1 car, set to debut in 2026, during a high-profile event in Munich. The German manufacturer will enter F1 with its own chassis and power unit under the new regulations, following its takeover of the Sauber team.

Since confirming its F1 entry in 2022, Audi has built a power unit facility in Neuberg, Germany, upgraded Sauber’s base in Hinwil, Switzerland, and opened a UK Technology Centre in Bicester, Oxfordshire to tap into British motorsport expertise. Drivers Gabriel Bortoleto and Nico Hülkenberg will continue with the team into the Audi era.

At the launch, attended by Audi CEO Gernot Döllner, Head of the Audi F1 Project Mattia Binotto, and Team Principal Jonathan Wheatley, the company showcased a concept livery featuring titanium, carbon black, and Audi red. The final race car will be revealed in January 2026.

Döllner emphasised that entering F1 marks a new chapter for Audi, aligning motorsport with the brand’s drive for innovation and transformation. He and Binotto both set a bold target: to fight for the Formula 1 World Championship by 2030.
Binotto outlined a three-phase plan — starting as a challenger, evolving into a competitor, and ultimately becoming a champion — reflecting Audi’s long-term commitment to success in the sport.
