How Jeep was destroyed By Stellantis
From Icon To Disaster: The Stellantis Destruction of Jeep
Features

It was bound to happen: the Sterile Corporate Monolith Stellantis was always going to screw Americans when it took charge of the Jeep brand. And screw Americans they have, as YouTube channel More Perfect Union reveals.

After Stellantis acquired the iconic brand, workers report that executives slashed jobs and cut quality to drive up profits. Now, customers say the new, hyper-inflated $80,000 Jeep Wagoneer is arriving at dealerships with mechanical issues straight off the lot.

If you think Stellantis is busy screwing Americans, think again—they’re equally preoccupied with figuring out how to screw Europeans. We had a run-in with their UK Peugeot PR department, whose press fleet we’ve accessed countless times.

In the run-up to the Covid 2019 pandemic, Press Fleet Manager Mike Arnold informed us that we should “wait for the pandemic to end” before contacting them again. It was, without exaggeration, the dumbest thing we’ve ever heard. We’re no pandemic experts, but we do know that past pandemics lasted roughly a year.

But in Mike Arnold’s world, this was some kind of genius masterstroke to get us off the Stellantis press fleet. In follow-up emails, he became visibly bemused when we pressed him on when he thought the Covid Pandemic would end—our interpretation was that he genuinely believed the pandemic would last years.

We consulted some PR professionals we trust, without mentioning Stellantis, and they were left speechless by this “wait for the pandemic to end” strategy. If you can even call it a strategy. So, we played the game to its conclusion, and eventually, they told us to fuck off.

Before Stellantis, Peugeot UK PR was headed by a consummate professional—the smoothest operator we’ve encountered. He built an efficient, open team and has since retired. The new Peugeot UK PR boss went and dug up Mike Arnold, promptly handing him the keys to the Press Fleet Manager throne.

We have briefly encountered Arnold before, and he didn’t impress us much—but apparently his new boss thought otherwise. He’s a tragicomedy, and Mike is a perfect reflection of Sterile Corporate Monolith Stellantis itself, where cluelessness and a lack of self-awareness go hand-in-hand with cost cutting.

If you want to understand why Jeep is being destroyed, spend some time with Mike—and you’ll understand everything you need to know about the Sterile Corporate Monolith Stellantis.
