Ultra-tech reviewer MKBHD managed to secure the Xiaomi SU7—quite an achievement for an American reviewer, given the current trade tensions between the US and China. He also suggests that the SU7 demonstrates why China is increasingly competitive in global technology markets.
The SU7 is a four-door, dual-motor electric performance sedan with a 100 kWh battery pack, retailing for around $45,000 in China.
By comparison, you’d need to spend at least $100,000 for a Tesla Model S Dual Motor, with similarly high pricing for a dual-motor Porsche Taycan 4S.
The Xiaomi offers comparable—if not superior—performance, range, and features at less than half the price.
Xiaomi is often compared to Apple within China, but with the added advantage of producing a broader range of technology products.
Much of this is possible because China’s supply chain infrastructure allows a company like Xiaomi to design and manufacture a state-of-the-art electric sedan with remarkable efficiency.
