Turkey’s car and light commercial vehicle market hit an all-time high in 2025, with total sales rising 11% to 1.37 million units despite high taxes and tight financing.
Passenger-car sales grew 11% to 1.1 million units, while light commercial vehicles increased 10% to 283,904 units, both setting new records.
Electric vehicles saw particularly strong growth, with battery-electric sales up 90% to roughly 190,000 units, capturing a 17% share of the passenger-car market, and hybrids rising 63% to around 295,000 units, or 27% of sales.
December alone recorded a 13% increase, with 191,620 vehicles sold. Renault was the top-selling brand in 2025, followed by Volkswagen, Toyota, Fiat, and Peugeot. The Renault Clio led the model rankings, ahead of the Renault Megane, Fiat Egea, Toyota Corolla, and Tesla Model Y.
The market’s growth is attributed to Turkey’s large population, rising mobility needs, and an aging vehicle fleet.
Market analysts expect 2026 sales to remain at similar levels, with the potential for total volumes to surpass 1.5 million units in the future.
