It almost sounds too good to be true, but it is real. Geely has revealed an affordable global car that is roughly the size of an Audi A6, if not a little bigger. It likely has a nicer interior and is fully electric, loaded with tech that would make BMW cry and weep all day, every day.
If BMW ever released a car like this, the Western press and Rachel Burgess would hail it as a miracle—the most important BMW ever made. For the motoring press, there is always a “most important car ever.”
But for the Chinese manufacturers, they keep churning out cars like the Geely A7 as if they are making bars of chocolate on a mass production line. And when you look at the rate of progress in manufacturing, technology, and scalability, you have to say it’s game over for Europe.
Look at the fuss the Western media created over the BMW iX3—we should be thankful BMW is taking the EV fight to China by making cars that are offered at legacy prices. This isn’t just about low wages and cheap energy to manufacture at scale.
In the last 5–10 years, China has leapfrogged the European car industry as if it’s flying into space at warp factor 9, while people in the UK are watching Button Moon on CRT TVs. Anyway, enough verbal rambling from me. YouTuber Electric Viking gives an overview of the Geely A7… go away now!
