XPeng Eyes Global Expansion With Autonomous Driving Tech Push
Industry News

XPeng is exploring partnerships with overseas automakers as it seeks to bring its driver-assistance and autonomous-driving technology to global markets and expand production beyond China.

Chairman He Xiaopeng said the company’s system is designed to be easily deployed worldwide and has already drawn interest from both Chinese and European automakers and suppliers. He positioned XPeng as a growing competitor in the global race to develop safe, scalable autonomous-driving platforms.

The company already works closely with Volkswagen Group, a partnership He described as progressing smoothly over the past few years.

XPeng is also seeing stronger-than-expected demand in Europe, particularly in France and Germany, for models such as the G6, G9 and P7+.

Looking ahead, XPeng plans to localise production overseas from 2026, potentially through new factories or upgrades in regions including Europe, Southeast Asia and Latin America.

It is also advancing plans for robotaxis and AI mobility services, while expecting profitability to gradually improve as its international expansion accelerates.

He said the coming decade will be critical for the industry, with XPeng aiming to transition from an EV maker into a global AI technology company.
