Max Verstappen has ended speculation over his Red Bull future by confirming that he will remain with the team until at least the end of the 2030 Formula 1 season.
The four-time World Champion was previously contracted to Red Bull until the end of 2028, but his future had become the subject of intense speculation amid reports that he was in talks with McLaren over a potential move.
Those rumours have now been put to rest, with Verstappen agreeing to extend his Red Bull contract by a further two years.
Verstappen joined Red Bull’s junior programme in 2014 before being promoted to the senior team just five races into the 2015 season. He made an immediate impact, winning the Spanish Grand Prix on his Red Bull debut.
Since then, the Dutchman has become one of the most successful drivers in Formula 1 history. He has claimed 71 Grand Prix victories with Red Bull and secured four Drivers’ World Championships.
“I am really pleased with the contract extension. We have the best people and I’m excited to keep working together with everyone to get back to the top again. This remains the ultimate goal that all of us have been working towards and will continue to pursue.” Verstappen said.
The new contract will see Verstappen spend 15 seasons with Red Bull in Formula 1 by the time it expires, cementing one of the longest and most successful driver-team partnerships in the modern era of the sport.
Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies welcomed the announcement, describing Verstappen as “the best driver on the grid” and praising the impact he has had on the team.
“Having Max continue with us and retaining the best driver on the grid is fantastic news for everyone at Red Bull, Oracle Red Bull Racing, as well as F1 and motorsport as a whole,” Mekies said.
“Very few partnerships in sport achieve what Max and this team have. Since the very beginning, Max has embodied everything that makes Oracle Red Bull Racing special: uncompromising competitiveness, relentless determination and the courage to challenge convention.”
Verstappen’s future has been one of the biggest talking points in the paddock, particularly as Red Bull looks to regain its competitive edge. His decision to remain with the team signals a clear commitment to helping the outfit return to championship-winning form.
For Red Bull, retaining Verstappen provides much-needed stability and ensures that one of the fastest drivers of his generation will remain at the heart of its long-term plans.
The message from both sides is clear: the partnership is not finished yet.
There are still more races to win, records to break and championships to chase, with Verstappen and Red Bull now committed to continuing their story together through 2030.
