The MINI John Cooper Works has never been shy about making a small car feel like a very large argument. Now Swiss tuning specialists Dahler Competition Line have decided it needs even more of everything.
The headline figure is 270bhp. That’s up from the standard 231bhp, while torque leaps from 380Nm to 450Nm thanks to a Stage 1 upgrade for the familiar BMW B48 turbocharged four-cylinder.

In other words, the JCW has gone from “quite lively” to “probably shouldn’t be left alone with a motorway slip road”.
Then there are the wheels. The new CDM1 is a forged 19-inch design developed specifically for MINI’s 5×112 fitment.

They’re lighter than conventional wheels, reducing unsprung and rotating mass, while their angular spokes echo the Union Jack motif of the MINI’s rear lights. Subtle? Not especially. Effective? Potentially very.
For those who believe a MINI should corner as though it has somewhere extremely important to be, Dahler offers 25mm-lowering sport springs or adjustable coilovers with up to 30mm of lowering and separate compression and rebound adjustment.

And because more power should make more noise, there’s a stainless-steel sports exhaust with enormous 108mm ceramic-coated tailpipes.
Best of all, Dahler says the engine and exhaust upgrades will meet Euro 6e requirements under WLTP. Aerodynamic upgrades are coming next. Because apparently 270bhp wasn’t enough trouble.
