Remember the Jensen Interceptor?

It was the sort of car that looked as though it had been designed by someone who thought subtlety was a communist conspiracy. Long bonnet, enormous V8, leather everywhere, and enough visual menace to make a motorway service station feel vaguely dangerous.

Well, Jensen is apparently bringing it back.

And this time, someone has had the perfectly sensible idea of making it considerably more ridiculous.

This is the Jensen Interceptor GTX, and beneath that wonderfully old-fashioned name is a machine packing a supercharged 6.8-litre GM LS-based V8 producing 900 horsepower.

Nine hundred.

That is enough power to make the rear tyres question their career choices.

And if 900 horsepower isn’t quite excessive enough, the engine can apparently be tuned to produce up to 1,200 horsepower. At that point, you’re no longer driving an Interceptor. You’re operating a small, extremely angry weather system.

The engine sits up front, drives the rear wheels and is connected to a six-speed sequential manual gearbox. You get paddles, but also a proper central stick, because apparently even in 2026 there are people who believe changing gear should involve some actual mechanical theatre.

Then there’s the hardware.

AP Racing brakes. Six-pot calipers at the front. Four at the back. Double-wishbone suspension with adjustable Nitron dampers. And 20-inch wheels wrapped in enormous Michelin Pilot Sports, including 345-section rubber at the rear.

Inside, Jensen has sensibly removed anything that might suggest this is a comfortable road car. There are carbon-fibre seats, harnesses, polycarbonate windows and an FIA-compliant roll cage.

And outside, there’s enough carbon fibre to make a Formula 1 team nervous: a giant rear wing, diffuser, side skirts and splitter.

So, despite the Interceptor name, this isn’t really a nostalgic grand tourer.

It’s more like someone found an old British muscle car in a barn, gave it 900 horsepower, emptied the contents of a racing department onto it and then shouted, “Yes. That’ll do.”

Because while modern performance cars have become astonishingly capable, there’s something wonderfully unhinged about a front-engined, rear-wheel-drive British bruiser with a supercharged V8, a sequential gearbox and enough rear tyre to pave a driveway.
