Aston Martin then built 150 road going examples to satisfy public demand with each unit costing £330,000. Step forward to 2016 and what we have is round 2.0 in the form of the Vanquish Zagato.
The new Vanquish Zagato carries over the design language from the 2012 Vantage Zagato with minor evolutionary cues. Zagato is a famous Italian coachbuilding firm and have collaborated with Aston Martin, on and off, for the past 50 years.
Based on the V12 Vanquish chassis, the Vanquish Zagato will have a 24bhp increase, the body will be built out of carbon fiber and each unit will cost £500,000 GBP.
Oh and the production will be limited to 999 examples, typically all units have been sold with production yet to commence.
Aston Martin have tuned the Vanquish Zagato’s 6.0-litre V12 engine too deliver 592bhp, if it matters the 0-62mph time is reached in 3.5 seconds.
