Tomas, better known as Autogefühl, was floored by the Audi Concept C—so much so that he said he felt personally insulted by Audi for slapping on a front end so stark and polarising it deserves to be scrapped outright.

But polarising to whom? A tiny, narrow-minded clique of Audi evangelicals, so rigid and self-important that they mistake their own taste for some higher standard of sophistication. Who the hell is Thomas to tell Audi what to do, let alone dictate the company’s entire design direction?

Had he bothered to look at Audi’s design history, he’d know their designers have always referenced the past to shape the future. This concept is no different. Yes, it’s bold. Yes, it’s a striking departure. But Audi has long drawn on Bauhaus-inspired design, interpreted in practical, evolving ways. To call it “insulting” is nothing more than melodramatic.

And let’s be real: concept cars are built to spark headlines and stir debate. That’s Marketing 101. Most of these extreme elements will never make it to production anyway—so crying foul over them is not only pointless, it’s clueless.
