A PHEV Storm Is Brewing: Next-Gen Audi RS6 Avant Spotted Testing
Auto News

Recent spy shots from the Nürburgring show the next-generation Audi RS6 Avant undergoing testing, sporting centre-exit exhausts that confirm it won’t be an all-electric model.

Instead, Audi appears to be developing a plug-in hybrid powertrain based on its familiar 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, as suggested by a high-voltage sticker visible on the prototype.

Power output is expected to exceed the current model’s 621 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque, with speculation pointing to 650 hp or more.

Heavy camouflage hides most of the design, but notable details include bracket-shaped taillights, new front bumper [fender] vents, and large intercoolers behind the bumper.

The car retains the RS6’s signature wide stance, oversized wheels, and aggressive body kit. Inside, glimpses reveal a flat-bottom steering wheel and a redesigned upper dashboard, hinting at a more advanced cabin.

Audi is likely to equip the RS6 with a suite of digital displays, including a passenger-side screen similar to the upcoming 2026 A6.
