Chery Automobile To Roll Out Industry-First Electronic Mechanical Braking System
Features

Chery Automobile has announced it will become the first automaker to mass-produce pure electronic mechanical braking (EMB), debuting the technology in the Exeed EX7 in the first quarter of this year.

Developed over three years, the system replaces traditional hydraulic braking components with fully electronic controls. Instead of using brake fluid and mechanical linkages, EMB converts pedal input into digital signals that activate actuators at each wheel.

The result is faster response times, greater precision, shorter stopping distances, and improved integration with advanced driver-assistance systems, regenerative braking, and future autonomous driving software.

Chery says overcoming millisecond-level response requirements and ensuring safety-critical reliability were key engineering challenges. The EMB system will work alongside the company’s Flying Fish Chassis 3.0, enhancing stability and real-time responsiveness.

Chery positions EMB as a foundational technology for software-defined and autonomous vehicles, signaling a major shift in how future cars will brake.
