The rumors of Audi killing off the Concept C have been greatly exaggerated. CEO Gernot Döllner has confirmed the targa-topped EV is very much alive and on track for launch within the next two years. Yes, that means the electrified two-seater promising a dash of nostalgia and a lot of style isn’t going anywhere.
Audi calls the Concept C a “serious product,” and it’s clear they mean business. In a recent interview with GoAuto and an internal memo, Döllner reassured employees that Porsche’s platform delivery is rock-solid and collaboration is “proceeding well.” While it won’t be a TT revival, the Concept C is aiming for the same cultural punch the original made back in 1998.
The design is already 87% final, and the cabin marks a shift away from screen overload. Think fewer buttons hidden behind endless menus, more tactile controls, and a neat infotainment system that folds discreetly into the dash. Materials are upgraded too, tackling the cabin quality dip of recent years.
Under the skin, it’s all VW Group PPE Sport magic. The Concept C weighs in at around 1,690 kg (3,725 lbs) with a rear-mounted electric motor, and a dual-motor AWD setup is on the cards.
No coupe version is planned—just a sleek, folding-roof roadster ready to take on the EV world.
So, breathe easy: the Concept C is coming, and it’s shaping up to be the EV sports car we’ve been waiting for.
