McLaren has unveiled the MCL-HY FIA Hypercar, its new entry for the FIA World Endurance Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans from 2027, alongside a track-focused derivative called the MCL-HY GTR for select clients.
The race car will undergo an intensive testing programme throughout 2026 before homologation in winter ahead of its competitive debut. It draws on McLaren’s motorsport heritage, referencing past icons like the M6A and the 1995 Le Mans-winning McLaren F1 GTR, as the brand seeks to reassert itself in top-tier endurance racing.

Built to LMDh regulations, the MCL-HY features a carbon-fibre monocoque chassis and a twin-turbo V6 hybrid powertrain producing up to 520kW (707PS), with a minimum weight of 1,030kg designed for a balance of speed and endurance efficiency.
Parallel to the race programme, McLaren is developing the MCL-HY GTR, a non-hybrid, lighter, track-only version powered by a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 producing around 730PS. It is aimed at private clients through an exclusive “Project: Endurance” ownership programme.

That programme includes access to McLaren’s WEC operations, professional driver coaching, a dedicated pit crew, and a six-event global track schedule, with deliveries of the GTR expected from late 2027.
In essence, McLaren is not just returning to Le Mans—it is building a full commercial ecosystem around its factory racing effort, blending competition, heritage branding, and ultra-exclusive customer track experiences into a single strategy.
