Polestar has taken its rakish electric 4, made it taller, roomier and more useful — then given it 544bhp. Because apparently sensible family cars are no longer allowed to be boring.
Meet the Polestar 4 SUV. It’s essentially the Swedish electric car maker asking a very simple question: why should choosing practicality mean surrendering performance?

The answer is this. Take the sleek Polestar 4 coupé, straighten out its roof, make the tailgate more upright, bolt on some proper roof rails and stuff considerably more luggage space into the back.

The result is an SUV that promises to be considerably more useful without looking like it has given up on having fun.

There’s up to 1,680 litres of storage, 2.5cm more rear headroom and a much larger panoramic roof. There’s even an optional electrochromic version that can electronically tint itself. Very handy when the children discover the sun.
And then there’s the performance. The entry-level Rear motor produces 272bhp, manages 0–62mph in 7.3 seconds and can travel up to 391 miles on a charge. But the Dual motor is the interesting one: 544bhp, 686Nm and 0–62mph in a frankly unnecessary 3.9 seconds.

Want even more silliness? The Performance Pack adds Brembo brakes, recalibrated ZF active dampers and enormous 22-inch wheels wearing Pirelli P Zero tyres.
It isn’t just about going quickly, either. V2L lets the car supply up to 3.3kW to external equipment, while Camping mode turns the parked Polestar into a climate-controlled lounge.

Google Gemini also joins the party, bringing conversational AI, trip planning and real-time translation. Prices start at £54,750, rising to £68,250 for the Performance Pack. First deliveries are expected in Q4 2026.
Practical? Yes. Sensible? Mostly. Boring? Absolutely not.
