Lando Norris heads into the Italian Grand Prix at Monza with the chance to claim his third consecutive Formula 1 victory, buoyed by the news that he will remain with McLaren until the end of the 2030 season.

Norris has enjoyed a strong run of form and will be looking to maintain that momentum at one of Formula 1’s most historic circuits. Victory at Monza would give the Briton three wins in a row and further strengthen his position among the championship contenders.

During a media interview Norris revealed his thoughts for the race weekend ahead:

“Looking forward to it, it’s another weekend where we want to be hopeful and believe it’s possible. We kind of just have to wait and see.”

“It’s another track where we want to prove things. I wouldn’t say it’s a bad circuit for us, we’ve been good here in the past. I think there are still tracks ahead that I’m not looking forward to quite as much. There’s still some good high-speed corners here which we want to try and make use of.”

“Still a very long season, lots of different types of tracks we still have ahead of us. The goal is to continue the performances we’ve had lately, but we’ll have to see tomorrow how the pace is and see if we can have another good weekend.”

“Clearly in a good place as a whole team at the minute, we know we have things we really have to try and work on and improve and we’ll see if we’ve been able to make any progress into this weekend.”

The timing of his new contract provides an additional boost. Norris has committed his long-term future to McLaren, becoming the second driver on the grid after Max Verstappen to agree a deal keeping him with his current team through 2030.

For Norris, the decision was about more than simply finding the fastest possible car. He highlighted his close relationship with McLaren, describing the team as his “family” and stressing how happy he is with the people around him.

“I just love where I am, simple as that,” Norris said.

He also believes McLaren can provide the performance needed to win more races and championships, making the new agreement a significant statement of confidence in the team’s future.

Now, attention turns to Monza. With two consecutive victories behind him, Norris arrives with momentum, confidence and a long-term future secured. A third straight win would provide the perfect way to celebrate his commitment to McLaren and underline his growing championship credentials.
