Audi is taking a different approach to electric-car progress with the new A2 e-tron. Rather than chasing headline-grabbing performance figures, the compact EV focuses on doing more with less — and the results are impressive.

The A2 e-tron can deliver up to 320 miles of range, while consuming a yet to be verified 12.8kWh/100km, making it Audi’s most efficient model yet. A key factor is its aerodynamic efficiency: with a drag coefficient of 0.24, it is the most aerodynamically efficient model in Audi’s compact line-up.

Buyers will have three battery options — 52, 61 and 84kWh gross — while DC charging is supported at up to 183kW. There is also the option of bidirectional charging, allowing Vehicle-to-Load and Vehicle-to-Home functionality.

In practical terms, the A2 e-tron can act as a mobile energy store, supplying electricity to equipment or even feeding power back into a home.

Two drive concepts and four power levels broaden the choice further, while the standard equipment list is surprisingly generous. Driver assistance features include emergency brake assist, swerve assist, attention assist, adaptive cruise control, parking system plus and a reversing camera.

Inside, the technology continues with Audi’s panoramic display, combining an 11.9-inch Virtual Cockpit Plus with a 12.8-inch curved MMI touchscreen. Audi assistant with AI integration and the e-tron route planner are also standard.

The A2 e-tron will be produced in Ingolstadt, with UK order books opening in October and deliveries starting in early 2027. Prices begin at £32,200 OTR.
