Saudi Arabian automaker Ceer has unveiled the production-ready Exobot, an ambitious new electric vehicle that will be offered in both sedan and SUV forms.

Built at a dedicated facility in King Abdullah Economic City, the Exobot is being developed with Foxconn and uses electric drive technology from BMW.

The range-topping version features three electric motors producing up to 1,111bhp and 1,500Nm of torque. The sedan can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 2.1 seconds and reach 155mph, while the SUV manages the same sprint in 2.4 seconds.

Both models use a 112kWh battery, with claimed ranges of up to 416 miles for the sedan and 348 miles for the SUV. An 800-volt electrical system allows the battery to charge from 10 to 80 percent in less than 30 minutes.

One of the Exobot’s most striking features is its enormous, steeply angled windshield, measuring 94.4 inches in length. Ceer says triple silver-coated glass and a powerful cooling system can lower cabin temperatures from 149°F to 90°F in 10 minutes.

Inside, the cars feature a 48-inch dashboard display, AI-powered voice assistance, over-the-air updates and promised hands-free autonomous driving technology. Pricing has yet to be announced.

Will Ceer be retail-ready?

Saudi Arabia recently launched a war against Yemen, and it isn’t going well for the Saudis, as their mercenary forces have reportedly been routed by Yemeni forces. This has placed Saudi Arabia’s very existence under threat, because the country is effectively unable to defend itself.

Here’s why that matters: if Saudi Arabia is under threat, so is Ceer. For that reason, I wouldn’t be placing an order anytime soon.
