Mazda has revealed the first official images of the Mazda 2, the company’s answer to the Ford Fiesta. Made in Japan the Mazda 2 will be on sale in its home territory by August, its expected to arrive onto European shores by early 2015. Two engines are confirmed for launch, two 1.5-litre capacity petrol and diesel engines. Mazda’s fuel efficiency technology, Skyactiv, with its use of light weight engine components and regenerative braking system will be utilised for the petrol engine. This is the third generation Mazda 2 and a plug-in hybrid version is on the cards. Its going to be a busy time for the plucky Japanese brand, an all new MX-5 has been confirmed for a September launch and a new CX-3 SUV is also in the pipeline for an end of year launch.
