And no it isn’t an Aston Martin DB5 from Dr No, despite being fabricated by hand the base architecture is actually from a Jaguar XK. The chassis and running gear is sourced from the XKR, plenty of power then, that means a 5.0-litre V8, 503bhp supercharged engine which can whack all the way up to 155mph and cover the 0-62mph sprint in 4.8 seconds. The Speedback takes its retro inspiration from many classics of the past era, Ferrari, Maserati, Jaguar and Aston Martin says David Brown. One could say its an Aston homage. But who cares, its a stunner, a work of art which will set you back £435k. Gulp. The company says an initial run of 50 will be made which will then be limited to 200 examples if sales are good. You could say a David Brown is like a Rolex, its a very safe investment that will accumulate in value.
