Remember the Cadillac Elmiraj concept from last year? we do, it was one of our favorite concepts of 2013. GM’s luxury division has officially confirmed it will be making a flagship luxury sedan to take on the might of the Mercedes S Class and BMW 7 Series, the Elmiraj concept might just make it into production, hopefully as is. Billed as the Cadillac CT6, expectations are that it will be revealed by the end of 2015 with a production ready date scheduled for mid 2016 . Cadillac are America’s answer to BMW, the company has a wide product offering, coupes, sedan’s and in your face SUV’s, the range currently lacks an in your face 7 series rival. The CT6 could end up being a high end high tech offering and is rumored to feature autonomous driving technology. New high tech construction techniques and use of exotic materials are being mooted with a new assembly line being built to make the CT6 one of the lightest luxury Sedan’s available when it becomes market ready. The Cadillac CT6 is seen by GM bosses as an inspirational loss leader, a show room show stopper designed to draw in the consumer, a showcase for brand ownership. Therefore sales volumes are likely to be low. Who cares, we want to see our American cousin’s doing something right for once. Cadillac haven’t released details of the powerplant to be used or revealed the price just yet, expect to hear a big V8 or V12 thunder machine to cost around the same as an S Class or 7 Series.
