Its no longer possible for companies to have a sole website presence to sell whatever it is they sell. These days you have to have an integrated digital strategy that embraces social media because social media is a prime driver for selling either a lifestyle or creating brand awareness.

Mercedes Benz really do believe in an integrated social media presence, their Facebook channel is a digital road paved with gold and currently has just over 17 million followers / likes and counting.

A study into the impact and value of social media by analytics company socialBench found that the Mercedes Benz Facebook page has an estimated net value of £6.8 million GBP. The German based company used a number of metrics to calculate this figure including “community value” which calculates the involvement and interactions of its Facebook fans.

Its still quite a mystery as to how this figure is arrived upon, neither do socialBench take into account how much Mercedes Benz actually spend to maintain their Facebook page every year.

But that hasn’t stopped the German analytics company placing Mercedes Benz ahead of Aston Martin’s Facebook page and Land Rover too. You can see where this is going, lets take a look at the evidence again.

A German social media analytics company carried out a study into the value of 75 Facebook pages operated by automotive companies and found that a German company is the most valuable and puts two British companies in 2nd and third place.

To our German community, we salute you for what is a rather backslapping study, but interesting nevertheless.
