His name is Matthew Riese and he hails from San Francisco, that’s in the US of A which means he has a pseudo name David Lorean. Only in America.
There is method behind Matthew Riese aka David Lorean’s madness. The Grad student built himself a replica DeLorean / hovercraft out of Styrofoam and layered it with a fiberglass skin on top.
David / Matthew “whatever!” raised $5,000 dollars via crowd funding site Kickstarter back in 2010 and was able to complete his project in 2012.
The David Lorean still lives on today, the craft is equipped with a 6hp lawnmower engine in the front powering a 24 inch fan that provides the lift.
The David Lorean Hovercraft can’t go “88 mph!” nor vanish back into the future, its top speed is 23mph!
