It may look like a Lotus Seven but its actually made by Dutch sports car maker Donkervoort, lets just say its inspired by the lightweight philosophy espoused by Lotus founder, Colin Chapman. Donkervoort is a small sports car maker you have never heard of before, it has been around since 1978 creating hand built, power-to-weight-ratio feather weight extremophiles such as their latest creation the D8 GTO Blisterberg Edition. The D8 Blisterberg Edition is based on the D8 GTO that in itself is one the fastest street legal cars you can buy so say Donkervoort. Weighing in at around 700kg the D8 GTO Blisterberg Edition is powered by a 5-cylinder, 2.5-litre, 380bhp and 450Nm of torque TFSi engine sourced from Audi. It can cover the 0-60mph dash in a neck snapping 2.8 seconds and has a top speed of around 165mph. The body of the D8 GTO Blisterberg Edition is made from composite materials such as carbon fiber. Its lighter by as much as 20 pounds over the D8 GTO but has a retuned suspension with Intrax shocks, race clutch, semi slick tyres and upgraded anti-roll bars in additon to lightweight carpets and carbon fiber bucket seats. Cost for the Donkervoort D8 GTO Blisterberg Edition is around the 194,000 euro’s ($240k) mark, only 14 examples will be made.
