If you are American and you have never heard of Croatia then we suggest you Google it, book a holiday there and Google it some more.
The man in question is Mate Rimac who was in his early 20’s when he started to tinker with cars, powertrains and electricity.
The company that bears his surname has gone on to develop and produce electric drivetrains and battery systems.
Rimac also produces high performance supercars and it’s latest venture is simply called Concept One. Concept One has made the leap from initial design study too a fully realised production car.
However production of Concept One will be limited to just eight units with prices expected to start at around 800,000 euros. It looks great.
Concept One is a fully electric hypercar featuring a powertrain with four permanent magnet-electric motors for each wheel. The total output measures 1073bhp and 1600Nm of torque.
Performance figures are fast from a car weighing 1,850kg. The 0-62 time takes a reputed 2.6 seconds and the top speed maxes out at a claimed 221mph.
concept One features four gearboxes, two for single speed transmissions for the front motors and a two dual clutch for the rear motors.
Rimac has made sure that all of that power is accessible with the inclusion of all manner of software aids such as torque-vectoring, stability and traction control.
In a statement Mate Rimac said “My goal was to not to create an electric version of existing supercars. I wanted to create technology to make the supercar considerably better in every regard – faster, more fun and more efficient. I wanted to make the supercar of the 21st century.”
We reckon it’s job done… Mate.
