TopSpeed go onto say that a 3-cylinder unit will join the current stable of 5 series engines. I don’t think so, but a three cylinder turbo/plugin hybrid may well be on the cards.
BMW have made it be known that all future Series models will have a hybrid option. Will the V8 powered M5 become quad-turbo or a V8 hybrid? Its all just speculation for now just like its speculating if the moon will ever crash into the Earth? No is the answer because its actually drifting away.

Any way, as for the exterior design, we think the current bog standard 5 Series looks bland unless its dressed in its M-Sport body kit, with 19-inch alloy wheels. So expect to see a sharper looking next generation 5 Series look for 2016 as the Topspeed rendering demonstrates.
