Hyundai Reveals Alternative-Fuel Ioniq Concept
Auto News
Thanks to the ‘Tesla effect’ auto manufactures are going out of their way to make all electric vehicles the future today, in a show room near you next year or the year after that. Even though battery technology is still requires considerable advancement to compete with the power of fossil fuel powered cars. Enter Hyundai’s Ioniq, the world’s first car to offer a choice of three efficient and ultra-low-emission powertrains: full electric, plug-in gasoline / electric hybrid, or gasoline / electric hybrid. Alternative fuel is a bit mis-leading because all of the energy we consume has a one point or another been powered by the sun. Fossil fuels, battery power, solar power, hippy power all have been powered by the sun. Hyundai are claiming the usual emotional exterior design, “wrought contours” and appealing driving environment. Which means it will probably never be made or end up looking like an amoeba when it is made. Hyundai have not made any further details available other than confirming a world premier in Korea in January 2016 after which the Ioniq will be revealed at the New York Auto Show in March. Of More interest is how the name Ioniq  was conceived, the first part refers to an ion which is an electrically charged atom. The second part references unique. If you ever wondered what the purpose of a marketing department was then you now know what they do for a living.  Hyundai-Ioniq-Exterior
