BMW i8 Spyder Production Postponed Until 2018
Auto News
BMW like to make it known just how great they are at making cars but it seems the proposed open top version of the BMW i8 Hybrid sports car has been giving it’s brilliant engineers sleepless nights. This means if you wanted your i8 Spyder yesterday then you will be disappointed today because the i8 won’t released this year. No specific reason has been given, according to BMW, industry sources have claimed that no new i-branded models will be released in 2016. BMW-i8-Spyder-Profile Whenever a news publication uses the term “inside sources” it’s another way to say the news is being made up on the spot to fill column inches. However BMW has confirmed that the i8 Spyder isn’t at the top of their to-do list and is busy making a rival to the Tesla model S, likely to called the i5. BMW-i8-Spyder-Rear BMW have also stated that the i8 is selling well enough and that an i8 Spyder is not necessarily needed right now. Like any car manufacture BMW will always decline to say what it is doing at any given time. Reading between the lines it may well be that the i8 Spyder will go into production by 2017 or 2018 at the latest.  BMW-i8-Spyder-Front-Profile
