Boom Time For Tesla As Demand Grows But Model X Stumbles
Auto News
Its boom time for Tesla Motors as the company is experiencing first adopter demand for its fully electric Model S. During the fourth quarter of the year Tesla delivered 17k cars to hippy new customers and in doing so reached its target of shipping 50k vehicles for the year. Tesla experienced its biggest spike in demand during September where it sold 33k units, however the fourth quarter saw demand reduce to between 17-19k vehicles sold. The company’s first foray into the all-electric SUV world began in September with the Model X, so far 208 Tesla SUV’s have been delivered. The Model X has been somewhat of a delayed project, it was first scheduled to launch in 2013 but has proved to be challenging to design and manufacture. Delays have been largely supplier based such as the seats which are custom made, Tesla had problems with suppliers who could produce them. In the end Tesla decided to manufacture the seats in-house.  Tesla-ModeTesla-Model-Xl-X
