Volvo Officially Confirms The V90
Auto News
After numerous web leaks over the past week Volvo have finally confirmed details of their all-new V90 Estate. The V90 will become the third model to enter Swedes’ most luxurious lineup – the 90 family – all of which sit on the same SPA platform.

It swiftly follows the S90 Saloon, both joining the XC90. The family estate proudly wears the Volvo badge on its large, rounded grille surrounded by the now familiar ‘Thor’s Hammer’ LED daytime running lights.

A pair of L-shaped tail lights flow from the roofline to below the beltline then across into the boot, giving it a far more soothing look than the boxy V70 it dethrones.

With Volvo’s rich estate heritage, the boot space will be large enough accommodate 5 labradors and a Pitbull but it’s smaller than the outgoing V70’s and Audi A6 Avant’s.

Countries loose on CO2 emission regulations will get a choice of two petrols, the 251 bhp T5 and the 316 bhp T6. Neither can be said to be short on power.

With two-stage turbocharging deemed insufficient, PowerPulse injects high-pressure air into the exhaust.

The Britain-bound 187 bhp D4 and 232 bhp D5 diesels to avoid as much turbo-lag as possible. With 400 and 480 Nm of torque, neither could be considered hesitant.

Both will be available with an 8-speed automatic although a 6-speed manual is standard on the entry level D4 trim. Economy figures for that model are 119 g/km of CO2 and 62.8 mpg.

These worsen to 129 g/km and 57.6 mpg for the D5. Just like its sister cars, there will be a T8 plug-in hybrid option. The 404 bhp makes it good for 0-62 mph in 5.2 seconds, despite having attractive estimates of 49 g/km and 135 mpg.
