The Moment When Energy Equals Mass & Acceleration
Video
This is Austin Williams who is competing in a Perris Auto Speedway stock car championship round in California. Williams is no different to any other 21 year old. He drives fast and believes he is indestructible but the other day he got a lesson in physics. Sprint car racing or stock car racing usually field competitors who race around in vehicles that weigh 640kg with V8 engines that can develop between 700bhp and 1100bhp. Thats a lot of power for a lightweight chassis to handle, more than a F1 car. So you have to posses a unique kind of madness to compete in this category of racing. Racing around on an oval dirt track means that if you make a mistake you will be punished. Williams made a self induced error, he pitched too fast into a bend which caused his car to slide around, dig into and begin to barrel roll Williams every which way you can imagine. The spin was so violent that Williams was catapulted over the safety fence and landed on the other side. Despite this Williams walked away unscathed.  Austin-Willians-Stock-Car-Racing
