The Grand Tour Shamed Top Gear Into The History Books… Probably
Video
The uncertainty surrounding how the new Amazon Prime car show The Grand Tour, fronted by the infamous trio of old Top Gear Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, was swept away in the opening five minutes as it became clear the show would be no Grand Bore. Indeed it was pretty much the same formula Clarkson and co re-invented and defined on ‘old’ Top Gear only it was transferred to the video on demand service Amazon Prime. There will be many reviews about the opening episode (one of twelve) elsewhere on the interweb and the darkweb. We’re not going to go into detail other than to say it was a car show that shamed the ‘new’ Top Gear into humiliation. The show is really centred on the buffoonery between Clarkson, Hammond and May the cars are merely the backdrop. The production standards were high, the cinematography was movie quality good. Social media, Twitter, also seemed to agree that it was good to see the trio back. https://twitter.com/Andrew_Thomas73/status/799539503891357696 https://twitter.com/Auwaitforitbrey/status/798470244402491393 https://twitter.com/TommmyLowe/status/799532041503207424 However to balance things out there were dissenting voices from the likes of Matt Robinson of CarThrottle who tweeted,  the-grand-tour-dailycarblog
