Who The Hell Are Tech Rules And What The Hell Is The Ren RS Supercar?
Auto News
OK, so before we get on with the actual car news we have to know who or what Tech Rules is? It’s a Chinese automotive research & development company, fairly new and it wants to make some noise and be noticed. We don’t know much more than that, their official site is in Mandarin, so all we have to go by is the information we are fed. The Ren RS Supercar is a culmination of the company’s R&D. The Ren RS is an all-electric, single seat, lightweight track-only supercar which first previewed as a concept at the 2017 Geneva Motorshow. Designed to be configured for either 4 or 6 electric motors the Ren RS Supercar has a claimed total system power of 1,287bhp. Top speed is reckoned to be around 205mph with a 0-60 time of 3 seconds. The interesting technical innovation here is the use of a diesel generator that effectively powers a micro-turbine to rapidly charge the 28kWh battery pack giving a claimed range of 727 miles from 80-litres of diesel fuel. If you want to get your hands on one then you’ll have to wait at least 2 years because it’s currently undergoing development testing over in Italy. The design is inspired by fighter jets hence the wraparound canopy windscreen, legendary product designer, Giorgetto Giugiaro styled the car with a bit of help from his designer son, Fabrizio. The Ren RS is indeed a halo project, that bit of noise, Tech Rules is already busy forming strategic alliances to sell its proprietary EV technology to companies in China so the likes of Tesla or BMW don’t have it all their own way.  Tech-Rules-Ren-RS-Supercar-Dailycarblog
