Huge Crash For Marcus Ericsson At The 2018 Italian GP Practice Session
Video

Marcus Ericsson suffered a car failure during free practice at the 2018 Italian Grand Prix. Not unusual in the high paced, high stressed environment of F1. However, suffering a DRS during a high-speed braking phase into Monza’s slow turn 1 Rettifilo Chicane isn’t recommended.

As Ericsson braked from 200mph the DRS on the rear wing of his Alfa Romeo failed to close in time. Ericsson skewered to the left and into the retaining barriers. The resulting impact was a violent demonstration of the speed involved. The Alfa Romeo pirouetted and barreled rolled to a halt a few hundred meters away from the start of the incident. The session was halted for 20minutes. The Alfa Romeo was a write-off but Ericsson was able to walk away unaided, unscathed and uninjured.  Marcus Ericsson, Alfa Romeo, Monza GP, Formula One, Dailycarblog.com
