If you want a good example of how to be an excellent automotive journalist then you will not find on this website. Or perhaps you might, the qualities of a good journalist are usually associated with curiosity, honesty, fearlessness, trustworthiness, passion, and tenacity. When we say the BMW Z4 is rubbish we are exhibiting all of the qualities outlined above. Except for honesty, no journalist in the 21st century is truly honest.
So when the 2019 BMW Z4 was leaked on the interweb we decided to use our curiosity, honesty, fearlessness, trustworthy, passion and tenacity to enable us to come to the collective conclusion that it looks rubbish.
Yes, most people who buy such a car, and there will be few because everybody is buying SUV’s, are getting a collaborative effort between BMW and Toyota. What you are looking at in these pictures is also the return of the Toyota Supra.
Of course, the Supra will be styled differently, but let us hope and pray it looks better than this BMW rubbish. And we certainly hope and pray it doesn’t look like the other roadster-joint-development-thing known as the Fiat Mazda Spider.
BMW isn’t giving too much away just yet, our industry sources who work at the heart of BMW have told us an M performance version will source the 3.0-litre, six-cylinder twin turbo which is reputed to develop close to 400bhp.
BMW might just throw in a locking rear differential, electronic dampers and sports car derived braking system, but why bother? these cars are destined either to end up in a ditch and will be owned by balding yesteryears wearing sports jackets purchased from TK-Maxx hanging on to the tail end of their youth.
We don’t like the front end design, it resembles the Fiat Mazda Spider and we hate that Fiat Mazda Spider because it projectile vomits all over the original Fiat Spider which is still way more stylish than the Fiat Mazda despite the 60’s styling looking aged.
The reason why car companies end production of certain car models is that they either suffer a sales decline or are rubbish, the 5th generation Z4 was a bit of both. Our illogical but award-winning advice is… go for the Toyota Supra and not the rubbish BMW Z4.
