Ferrari SP1 & Sp2, New Ultra Limited Editions Are Totally Sold Out
Video

Ferrari has unveiled the SP1 and SP2 the first in a line of special ultra limited edition models. Both the Ferrari SP1 and Sp2 draw inspiration from the 1950’s motor racing era. That said, it’s unusual for Ferrari to chose a retro design language.

Ferrari is a forward thinking company so to choose this particular retro style in an era of advanced understanding of aerodynamics is at odds with a maker of high-performance cars. The Barchetta (little boat) style was widely used by Italian carmakers throughout the late 1940’s and 1950’s. This is the style the SP1 and SP2 are evoking. The Ferrari SP1 and SP2 will be available as a single or two-seater body style. Ferrari SP1 & SP2 Barchetta, dailycarblog The body is almost entirely made from carbon fiber. And both the Ferrari SP1 and SP2 are ultra high performers. This lightweight chassis/body finds a home for a naturally aspirated 809bhp and 719Nm V12 that forces a sprint time of 0-62mph in just 2.9 seconds. Top speed is said to around 186mph. The Formula One style driving position of the SP1 allows the body to act as a giant wing. There is no windshield, instead, Ferrari developed a “virtual windshield”. Clever aerodynamic channeling of the airflow directs high-speed turbulence away from the driver. The Ferrari SP1 and SP2 are the most powerful Ferrari’s ever made. Limited to just 500 examples at £2m each, pre-orders for the SP1 and SP2 are already sold out. That is to say, Ferrari has yet to begin production other than showcasing the presentation/display cars.  Ferrari SP1 barchetta, Dailycarblog.com
