Driving sideways is a Chris Harris specialty. It’s a great skill to control a car as it gets sideways, the feeling is one of elation. Take the Mercedes Benz W124, the rear wheel drive Merc was easy to get sideways in damp/wet conditions. It made you feel like a rally driver. But driving sideways isn’t the fastest way to race on a circuit.
Chriss Harris the racing driver will know that only too well. But what does he do when he gets behind the wheel of a £250k, 740bhp Ferrari 488 Pista? Well, he only got it sideways around three times. A record low for Harris.
Testing at Ferrari’s Fiorano, track in Italy Harris has to be at his best behavior. Ferrari doesn’t like it when invited motoring journalists wring the heck and neck out of their cars.
Anyway, Harris gives an expert overview of the Ferrari 488 Pista and it’s handling and usability capabilities. That’s all were interested in Harris, the sideways stuff leave it for the TV show.
