Nissan X Trail Gets Powertrain Makeover
Auto News

In the interests of fairness and balance and professionalism (which Nissan never showed us) and because it’s a slow news day we have decided to cover news of upgrades for the Nissan X Trail. We do apologise. Personally, none of us at DCB would ever consider buying a Nissan. We sampled the X Trail and considered it for a long-termer. However, when we sat in one it felt terrible, when you shut the doors it’s as though they are made of shanty-town metal. The interior feels a tad cheap and well, we just didn’t like it. So much so that we didn’t even bother to drive it.

Anyway. It does offer a lot of room at a none premium price tag if that’s what you want… And that’s about it. However, Neesan has upgraded the X Trail’s powertrain. With reduced CO2 emissions and improved fuel economy across the revised range.

Reduced CO2 and improved economy? Yeah right, they must be lying.

Always remember folks, educated people in suits and ties who can string words together lie just as much as criminals when profit margins are at stake.

The X Trail engine upgrades pertain to petrol and diesel engines linked to two transmissions – a six-speed manual, or an all-new seven-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) automatic.

The new diesel engine is a 1.7-litre dCi 150 PS unit. It’s available in 2WD and 4WD, and with a six-speed manual gearbox.

The new petrol engine is a 1.3-litre DIG-T 160 PS unit, available in 2WD and with a Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT).

Nissan claims improved standing-start performance and smoother power delivery.

The DCT features electrical on-demand cooling and electro-mechanic gear actuation to improve efficiency.

Nissan claims the X Trail powertrains meet the latest Euro6d-Temp emissions standard… yeah, certification or not, we totally believe that.

We’re so bitter… professional award winning journalism from the Daily Car Blog.
