Why You Shouldn’t Buy The Award Winning And Unreliable Jaguar I Pace
Auto News

The Jaguar I Pace won three trophies at the 2019 Word Car Awards earlier this year. However, the World Car Awards is nothing less than a front for back slapping motoring journalists to make a name for themselves in the backslapping world of the motoring industry. Jaguar is the ideal case to highlight why these awards should never be taken seriously. Jaguar is struggling to sell vehicles, it’s in debt.

Our theory here at the Daily Car Blog is that Jaguar won these triple trophies out of sympathy. Kind of like the “Stockholm Syndrome” of awards, and really not for anything else. It is no coincidence that these awards are publicity predators for the Jaguar brand, good news during bad times. Now the mist of the awards season has cleared, the Jaguar I Pace is finally revealed in its true colors.

The reality is that the Jaguar I Pace is already unreliable. The award-winning company has been forced to recall a couple of thousand award-winning I Pace electric cars over the potential for the regenerative brakes to fail.

Jaguar is heading full steam into the future with the same old values of traditional unreliability.

Investigators in the US discovered the I Pace regenerative braking system has a delay between the driver applying the brakes and the vehicle slowing down. Not an ideal situation, I am sure you would agree.

The recall is limited to the United States and 3,083 units sold. Jaguar reckons a software update should fix the problem. A recall will begin next month, meanwhile, owners of the award-winning I Pace should tread carefully.

Our opinion is… buy a Tesla, sure the quality control could be better, but the underlying technology and thought process is far superior.
