Would You Buy This?
Auto News

This is the Hyundai Tucson, new generation. Every year over 27,000 people in the UK buy a brand new Tucson. This is very disappointing. As disappointing as the styling of the Tucson. The Tucson styling fails in comparison to a reliablity issue with company’s electronic-parking brake technology. It’s existed for over three years now. When we tested a Kia Optima, which shares Hyundai technology, the electronic park brake failed to engage properly. So we decided to give KIA the benefit of doubt by not posting a review, perhaps it was a one-off issue. But the issue still persists.

Anyway, Hyundai wants you to know the prices and specifications for the new generation Tucson. Three specifications are available, SE Connect, Premium and Ultimate. It’s offered with a 1.6-litre T-GDi 147bhp engine and a mild hybrid and full-fat 287bhp hybrid variants. Prices start from £28k rising to £37k for top-spec editions.

So that begs the question, would you buy the Tuscon? 27,000 yearly sales can’t be wrong. But the messy styling, the frequency of Hyundai recalls means it’s a definite no from me. This is opinion-ism not journalism.
