The worldwide launch of the new eighth-gen BMW 5 Series Sedan will officially debut in October 2023. BMW is boasting that the new model is more dynamic and more comfortable than before. A fresh interpretation of the 5 Series design will also include a new 8.5 Curved Display, and innovative digital services. However, the biggest takeaway will be a purely electric drive system in the guise of the BMW i5.
Based on a modular platform, the new BMW 5 Series Sedan will be offered in all-electric and plug-in hybrid variants as well as powered by uprated petrol and diesel engines with 48V mild hybrid technology.
The arrival of the BMW i5 Sedan in the premium executive segment, followed by the BMW i5 Touring in 2024, will see the BMW Group continue the expansion of its all-electric offering.
The new BMW 5 Series Sedan will be built exclusively at BMW Group Plant Dingolfing. The facility in Lower Bavaria is the company’s largest manufacturing site in Europe. Production of the new BMW 5 Series will start in the same year the plant marks 50 years of manufacturing BMW models.
