Electric Classic Cars, a Welsh-based company, took a worn-out Testarossa and successfully installed an electric powertrain. Originally equipped with a 395 hp 4.9L flat-12 cylinder engine and a 5-speed manual transmission, the Testarossa boasted era-impressive performance, accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds and reaching a top speed of 180 mph.

Now dubbed the “Teslarossa” due to its utilization of a Tesla Model S powertrain, the electric Testarossa exhibits elevated performance by an order of magnitude. It can achieve 0-60 mph in an impressive 3.99 seconds, effortlessly surpassing its previous capabilities. With the assistance of traction control, the acceleration time could potentially drop even further, possibly reaching the mid-three-second range.

Additionally, Electric Classic Cars revealed that the original gasoline engine required a lengthy 10-minute warm-up period before it could be driven, a hassle that has been eliminated by the electric powertrain.

The conversion to electric has not only enhanced the Testarossa’s performance but has also retained its timeless aesthetic appeal. Even after nearly four decades since its initial release, the Testarossa continues to exude an undeniable cool factor.
