My anticipation remains unyielding for the day when Ferrari unveils a car that will truly render me breathless, possessing an innate visual allure that commands an unequivocal “wow.” This aspiration has been harbored for two decades, and yet the moment of awe has eluded me thus far. The Ferrari Roma comes closest to embodying that very “wow” factor. However, in my discerning view, a flaw resides in the placement of the headlights, positioned slightly too low, thereby regrettably detracting from the overall aesthetics. Additionally, I find that the Roma’s resemblance to the Jaguar F-Type is hard to ignore.
However, for numerous Ferrari owners, the experience of driving one goes beyond sheer appreciation of its exquisite engineering; it becomes an artful display, a means to showcase their presence on social media platforms.
The Ferrari 812 Competizione is Ferrari’s $600,000 answer to America’s muscle car, it is ferocious and powered by an 830-hp V12.
The same concept is echoed in the interior. The new-generation Alcantara that covers the cockpit of this 812 Competizione, composed of 65 percent recycled polyester and presented as a world premiere on Ferrari Purosangue, is embellished with design sketches that have been embroidered directly onto it.
The hand scirbed exterior detailing and patterns took over a year of close collaboration between the Styling Centre and the Tailor Made team. Ferrari Chief Design Officer, Flavio Manzoni’s drawings, provided the inspiration for this model with its unique details.
The 812’s prowess is matched only by its exclusivity, with a production lineage restricted to a mere 999 units. The specific 812 Competizione in focus here was commissioned by Ferrari North America under the company’s bespoke Tailor Made program. The car will be auctioned off at the Ferrari Gala Charity event in the heart of New York City on October 17th.
