The MG Cyberster Is Really Rather Good Says Top Gear

Top Gear embarks on another adventure, this time jet-setting off to China for what can only be described as an all-expenses-paid extravaganza, joining the finest UK motoring journalists to test drive the MG Cyberster. Meanwhile, The Daily Car Blog received an invitation too, but unfortunately, our chief road tester was otherwise occupied at the dentist’s office, undergoing an emergency teeth-whitening session to tackle unsightly yellow teeth..

Anyway…

The MG Cyberster emerges as the first of its kind, a pure electric GT roadster, marking a milestone ahead of the much-anticipated Tesla Roadster and the electric Porsche Boxster. However, being the pioneer in a segment doesn’t necessarily guarantee an advantage. Will the MG Cyberster manage to capture the hearts of consumers?

With a starting price of £50,000 in the UK, the Cyberster is available in two model derivatives: the Trophy, starting at £55,000, and the top-of-the-line GT, commanding £60,000. The Cyberster Trophy is propelled by a single electric motor driving the rear wheels, generating 335hp and achieving a 0-62mph sprint in 5.0 seconds.

On the other hand, the dual-motor GT variant boasts 496hp distributed to all four wheels, accelerating from 0-62mph in a brisk 3.2 seconds. Both models are equipped with a 77 kWh battery pack, offering respective ranges of 316 miles and 276 miles.

Yet, amidst these impressive specs, the burning question remains: What is Top Gear’s verdict on the MG Cyberster?

It’s all really rather good… !?
