Porsche is embracing hybrid technology, and thankfully, they opted against a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Remember, folks, plug-in hybrids should be considered taboo for sports cars. Hybrids? We’re okay with hybrids. Anyway, the Porsche 911 GTS Hybrid utilizes a redeveloped 3.6-litre flat-six engine that now incorporates one turbocharger instead of two, as in the previous model.
The hybrid system effectively acts as a turbocharger, as it includes an electric turbocharger and an additional electric motor integrated into the gearbox, with both motors powered by a 1.9 kWh battery.
Think of the new Porsche 911 GTS Hybrid as a kind-of-high-performance Toyota Prius. However, what sets the GTS Hybrid apart from the Prius is its 533 bhp, 610 Nm of torque, 0-62 mph in under 3 seconds, and absence of turbo lag.
Anyway, who better to explain all this than the automotive YouTuber Thomas of Autogefühl.
