If ignorance ever took human form wearing a bucket hat and flaunting cheap tattoos, this video would be it. Jack, from the fast-growing and reputable YouTube channel Everything Electric Cars, was at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed, where he gave the new MG IM electric sedan a once-over.
So far, so standard — another static walkaround by a well-known EV reviewer. But then he drops a jaw-clenching remark: that the MG IM “looks like a Chinese-designed car.” The not-so-subtle subtext? That Chinese design is inherently inferior to European design.
Here’s the problem: Jack didn’t bother to check the facts. The MG IM was penned by none other than Jozef Kabaň, a Slovak designer with a postgraduate degree from the Royal College of Art in London. You know, one of the most prestigious design schools in the world.
Kabaň isn’t some no-name stylist either — he styled the Bugatti Veyron and held senior design posts at BMW and Rolls-Royce. So if the car looks European, that’s because it is — at least in design DNA.
Jack, seriously — do your homework before spewing lazy, borderline xenophobic drivel disguised as car commentary. The world’s moved on. Maybe you should too.
