Polestar has unveiled extensive upgrades to its flagship Polestar 3 SUV for the 2026 model year, effectively making it a new car. The update introduces an 800-volt electrical architecture, enabling DC fast charging up to 350 kW and cutting charging times by more than 25%. Efficiency is up 6%, supported by new CATL-supplied battery packs: 92 kWh for the Rear motor and 106 kWh for Dual motor and Performance variants.

Performance also takes a leap with a new in-house rear motor paired with an asynchronous front motor, delivering up to 670bhp in the Performance model, a stronger rear-drive bias, and refined handling.

The SUV’s computing power has been boosted more than eightfold, with the NVIDIA Orin processor replacing Xavier, enabling 254 trillion operations per second for advanced safety, battery, and sensor management. Importantly, this upgrade will also be offered as a free retrofit to existing Polestar 3 customers from early 2026.

The 2026 line-up introduces three clear trims—Rear motor, Dual motor, and Performance—along with updated options and design tweaks, including a new Storm grey exterior colour and upgraded interior materials.
Polestar UK reports strong demand, with the 2025 model year already sold out, reflecting the growing appetite for premium electric performance SUVs.
